£500k tourist attraction for coastal village | This is South Wales

£500k tourist attraction for coastal village | This is South Wales: "Chair of the community council Simon Morris welcomed the news. He said: "We are delighted the funding for the promenade at Pendine has been secured.

"Over the past 60 years or so the surface had become worn and unappealing and this money will allow us to replace it with something more modern and attractive.

"The community council has worked with the county council over a period of nearly five years to get to this point and, on behalf of the village, I would like to thank all the county council officers who've put a lot of time and effort into securing this funding for us.

"There will be some disruption while the work is carried out but we've asked that the contractors do their utmost to minimise this."

The plans are being showcased at a special open day at the village's Museum of Speed next Tuesday, January 10, from 2pm to 8pm."
