Army of volunteers needed to protect Welsh beaches from rising tide of filth - Wales News - News - WalesOnline: "AN ARMY of volunteers is needed to stem the rising tide of filth and rubbish appearing on Welsh beaches, it has been claimed.

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) said it “urgently” needed people to help fight what they say is a growing trend of waste left on the Welsh coast.

The most recent survey into the cleanliness of Welsh beaches, carried out in 2010 by MCS, revealed the highest levels of litter on beaches in Wales since the organisation began collecting data 18 years ago.

The survey revealed that Wales’ beaches were the most littered when compared to other parts of the UK."
